How End-to-End Encryption Works
When you send a message or upload a photo, it's encrypted on your device before it leaves. The encrypted data travels through our servers and can only be decrypted by your partner's device using a shared secret key that we never have access to.

XSalsa20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption with 256-bit keys. Every message uses a unique random nonce.
ECDH (Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman) with X25519 curve. Creates a shared secret without ever transmitting private keys.
PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations and SHA-256 for password-based key derivation. Resistant to brute-force attacks.
Hardware-backed secure storage: iOS Keychain and Android Keystore. Keys never exist in plain memory.

Common Questions
What does end-to-end encryption mean?
End-to-end encryption means your messages and data are encrypted on your device before being sent, and can only be decrypted by your partner's device. Not even Couples Flirt can read your content. The encryption keys exist only on your devices.
Can Couples Flirt see my private content?
No. We literally cannot access your encrypted content. Your encryption keys are stored only on your devices, in hardware-protected secure storage. We never have access to the keys needed to decrypt your data.
What happens if I lose my device?
You can set up a recovery password to backup your encryption keys securely. This password-protected backup allows you to restore access on a new device. Without a recovery password, encrypted content from before the device loss cannot be recovered (this is a security feature, not a bug).
Is my location data encrypted?
We use privacy-safe geohash-based location for Together Magic features. We never store precise coordinates. The geohash gives us enough information to detect if you're together, without knowing exactly where you are.
What about backups?
Any backups of encrypted content remain encrypted. Even if someone accessed a backup file, they couldn't read the content without your encryption keys.
